My Product Empties

Image Credit: That Girl at the Party

Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't written a new blog post recently, I've been very busy with revision and exams! Today I've decided to talk about my empty beauty products that I've ran out of and let you know what I thought of them.

Running out of a favourite product is always the worst especially if they are expensive. You have the hard decision whether to re-purchase and sometimes the product which you like is either unavailable or has been discontinued...

My first product which I ran out of was the Urban Decay eyeshadow in Bootycall from the Naked 2 palette. This shadow was by far my favourite out of the 12 shades as it was a beautiful base colour for any look, therefore I was determined to re-purchase. However, unlike the rest of the shades Bootycall wasn't available as a singular product. Instead I scoured the Internet for a dupe and was pleased to discover MAC sold a similar colour named 'Shroom'. Despite this the product was sold out! So far I've managed without the colour by using cheaper dupes (L'Oreal E1 Beige Trench palette) but I'm considering trying to buy the MAC product again... Wish me luck!

The second product which I've emptied is Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer. I'm sort of cheating here as I have not yet finished the tube but I'm coming very close. This primer is essential for everyday wear as without it my eye shadows would crease instantly! I have already re-purchased my second primer for whenever my current tube runs out; I swear they are infinite...

As a lover of concealer I am forever running out of the stuff; I've even saved my MAC concealers for special occasions as I know at my current rate of application they would run out in a week! I am currently on my second tube of Collection's Lasting Perfection Concealer and even that is now coming to the end of it's life. As you may know I've talked about this concealer in various other posts and I think it's brilliant considering the price! I will repurchase until the very end.

My last product empty is Smashbox's eyeshadow in Dusk which is from the trio palette Cover Shoot. I use this product everyday to fill in my brows but unfortunately I will now have to find a replacement; I'm having to scrape at the pan desperately every morning which takes up a lot of time! Unfortunately, similar to Urban Decay, Smashbox do not sell this eyeshadow as a singular product so likewise I will have to find a dupe.

And that's all of my product empties! I hope you enjoyed this post; be sure to let me know in the comments below what favourite products you've ran out of.

My Current Beauty Routine

Hey guys!

I wasn't quite sure what to post this evening so decided to go with my current beauty routine; my routine personally changes quite often but when it comes to a natural, day-to-day look I tend to go with the same products, colours and techniques.

The first thing I do before applying make-up is use Garnier's Fresh Essentials Moisturiser; this is an important step for me as my face is naturally dry. Without moisturiser my skin feels tight and extremely uncomfortable. After applying moisturiser I move straight onto combing through my brows using my Chanel eyebrow pencil; with an Eco Tools angled eyeliner brush I will additionally fill in my brows using Smashbox's eyeshadow in Dusk. As my face is still moist it ensures that the colour will apply easily and that my brows will set in shape.

After a lengthy game of filling in my brows and making sure they match (some days this happens easier than others...) I will apply my foundation and concealer with the Real Techniques Complexion Sponge. My current products are Lancôme's Teint Visionnaire Foundation in 02 Beige Rosé and Collection's Ultimate Wear Concealer in Fair. These usually last all day and I will only touch-up if I'm going to work in the evening. My complexion is completed by contouring my face using the Benefit Hoola bronzer and then applying a MAC Power Blush in Mocha; both of these products are applied using the Real Techniques Stippling Brush.

Finally it's time to move onto my eyes; for me this is the easiest part as natural looks don't take up a lot of time! Unfortunately my eyes are very oily so it is essential for me to apply an eyeshadow primer; without my Urban Decay primer eyeshadows would instantly crease on me and let's be honest, that isn't a good look! With a MAC 217 blending brush I will then apply a light base eyeshadow from the MUA Heaven and Earth palette across my lid, crease and then up to my brow bone. After this I'll apply a dark brown eyeshadow through my crease, concentrating more of the product on the outer part of my eyelid. Despite my love for this palette MUA haven't named their eyeshadows so it is difficult to explain which ones I use!

Here's a diagram:

To finish off my eyes I'll attempt to draw on winged eyeliner (I'm jealous of those who are naturally gifted in that area) using a Maybelline liner and then I'll apply my Lancôme mascara. I normally don't apply eyeshadow to my lower lash line so I'll move straight onto lining my waterline with a Lancôme pencil eyeliner and then I'll use my Maybelline liner again as a subsistute for mascara on my lower lashes.

To finish off my natural daily look I'll apply a pink lipstick; as mentioned in this month's beauty favourites my current favourite is Bobbi Brown's lipstick in 56 Hibiscus. If I feel like darkening up my lips a bit I'll also use Bourjois' lip liner in 18 Framboise Exquise, a pink liner which goes with the majority of lipsticks!

And that's my current beauty routine. It may seem long in writing but in reality it's a simple, quick and easy look to do.

May Beauty Favourites

Image Credit: iHerb, Beauty Geek UK, Boots, Amazon

Hello everyone!

As we are now nearly two weeks into May I've decided to post this month's beauty favourites. My blog is new and I thought this was a nice way to start things off, so here we go!

A few weeks ago I purchased the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge from Boots; I have bought plenty of different foundation and concealer brushes in the past but none of them gave me full precision, comfort or coverage. This sponge however makes sure that applying foundation and concealer is an easy task and allows you to fully cover dark circles, spots and blemishes. Despite all of this I will have to buy another Real Techniques Sponge soon as my mischievous puppy stole it out of my beauty box and chewed off the pointed end...

My second beauty favourite this month is the Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer. I have tried various concealers in the past, including Rimmel and MAC, but this concealer is by far my favourite as ultimately it does what it says on the tin. My dark circles and spots are non-existent after applying this concealer and my face is instantly radiant, lasting all day.

In recent months Sainsbury's have released their own beauty range called Boutique, selling nail polishes, lip sticks and lip glosses. As a beauty junkie I had to try out the new range and decided on the Boutique lip gloss in Lip Lip Hooray. To my surprise the lip gloss was a beautifully pigmented peachy-pink which has good staying power of up to two hours. This is my go-to product for natural looks and I'll be sure to purchase some more shades in the future.

My last beauty favourite for May is Bobbi Brown's Creamy Lip Color in Hibiscus; this pink lipstick is highly pigmented and is one of my most used lip products due to it's beautiful colour and natural ability to go with almost any look. I have nearly used up all of this lipstick and I'm considering buying another in the future. Despite it's high price the lipstick has great staying power and you will rarely have to re-apply during the day.

Have you tried any of these beauty products? Let me know in the comments below and don't forget to leave your own monthly favourites! I'd love to try them out.
